AION 2 Region Lock: Restricted Regions & How to Play
AION 2 is a free-to-play PC MMORPG launching globally through Steam and PURPLE. However, its global Steam release is not available everywhere. The current AION 2 region lock affects 18 countries and regions, where players may find AION 2 unavailable through Steam or be unable to activate the game package.

AION 2 Restricted Countries and Regions
AION 2 Global is scheduled to launch on PC on October 5, 2026, through Steam and PURPLE. As of September 16, 2026, the free AION 2 Steam package cannot be activated in 18 countries and regions, while all three Founder’s Packs cannot be purchased or activated there. Why Is AION 2 Unavailable in Your Region?
AION 2 may be unavailable on Steam for several reasons, including separate regional services, local publishing requirements, and your Steam account settings.
1#. Separate Regional Versions and Services
Some markets use separate AION 2 services instead of the Global Steam release. South Korea and Taiwan, for example, already have their own official version through PURPLE. This means a Global Steam restriction does not necessarily mean AION 2 itself is unavailable in that region.
2#. Publishing and Regulatory Requirements
Regional availability can also depend on publishing arrangements or local regulations. NC has specifically confirmed that it is reviewing regulatory requirements in Belgium and the Netherlands, but it has not publicly explained the restriction for every country or region on the current Steam list.
3#. Steam Store Country or Account Mismatch
Your Steam Store Country can also affect regional availability. If you have moved or live abroad long-term, your account may still be tied to your previous country. Steam requires the Store Country to match your current residence and generally requires a local payment method when changing it.
How to Access AION 2 If It Is Region Locked
If AION 2 is unavailable through Steam in your region, start with official access options before changing account settings or trying unsupported workarounds.
Way 1. Check Whether AION 2 Is Available Through PURPLE
Some regions already have their own AION 2 service. South Korea and the Taiwan region, for example, received AION 2 in November 2025 through PURPLE. If an official regional version is available where you live, use that service instead of assuming the Global Steam package is your only option.
Tip: Once you know which AION 2 service is available in your region, check the AION 2 classes to compare roles, PvE and PvP performance, and beginner-friendly picks before choosing your character.
Way 2. Claim a Steam or PURPLE Account with LagZapper

If you already own a Steam account whose Store Country legitimately matches a region where AION 2 is available, sign in and check the game’s Steam page again. Availability is determined partly by the account’s Steam Store Country and the regional restrictions attached to the game package.
Way 4. Wait for an Official Steam Distribution Update
If your region has no separate AION 2 service, PURPLE is unavailable, and you have not actually moved countries, waiting for an official distribution change is the safest option. The current Steam package blocks activation in 18 regions and disables cross-region trading and gifting, but NC may adjust regional availability as its Global distribution plans develop.
